Family Counseling Centre

The Family Counseling centre extends professional service like crisis intervention, investigation in dowry death cases, making efforts for reconciliation in the cases of separation and out of court settlement in marital crises and providing referral services like short stay homes, free legal aid, police assistance and medical help. The centre functions at Nagapattinam from 2002.

Swadhar Home

Provide primary need of shelter, food, clothing and care to the marginalized women/girls living in difficult circumstances, who are without any economic support. The clients are rehabilitated economically through education, awareness, skill up gradation and personality development through behavioral training. The home functions at Sirkali of Nagapattinam District from April 2005.

Short Stay Home for Women in Distress :

Socially neglected and deserted women/girls are accommodated temporarily and assisted with counseling to regain confidence and to become empowered and aware of their rights. The home functions from April 1997 at Nagapattinam. The Home also concentrates on provision of recreational activities, medical assistance, referrals and vocational training towards welfare of  the client.

Community Micro Project :

Provides an opportunity for stabilization and restoration of livelihoods to women self help groups through provision of seed capital and vocational training for value addition to the most vulnerable of the tsunami affected population in Silladi village of Nagapattinam District. The project functions from 2006.

Women Empowerment Project :

Avvai Village Welfare Society has been selected as the Best Organization in Credit Linkage for the fourth consecutive year by NABARD this year. Avvai had formed over 3341 women self help groups (SHG) under the Mahalir Thittam which has made Avvai as one of premier organization in Tamil Nadu on Women Self help Group Movement. The Women SHGs have always been our strength. They are taking active part in all our programmes are in fact, our partners in progress. Our SHG members have always been involved in Community
development activities like helping in the running of the schools, bringing women in distress for counseling and accommodation. They acted as the Village Level officers of Avvai. The programme is with effect from May 1996.
